Pyrography portraits of famous and not-so famous people
It was my fascination with old sepia-toned photos that inspired me to find a way to create that style with my wood burning. My wood burning technique which I refer to as the "smooth shading technique" gives the appearance of an old-style sepia photo which is just what I was trying to create in my portraits. It is a technique where you use the wood burning pen much like a paint brush creating smooth, blended shading that is detailed and clear.
While growing up and beginning my artistic development, I struggled with portraits and swore never to do them again. Now, with pyrography I have found a new passion in my portraits. A portrait artist, turned pyrographer, Lynda Gibbs Eaves, said this of my portraits. "Nedra's portraits are not just a copy of a photograph, but they actually capture the 'breath of life' of the person".
If you would like to purchase one of my original wood burnings or would like to have a portrait done of a loved one, please contact me for a quote.

Prices start at $250 for a head-and-shoulders pose of a single person on 1/4" thick wood suitable for framing. Other woods, multiple people, full body portraits, or ones with scenic back-grounds will add to the basic price.
A retainer of 50% is required before beginning work on your portrait. You will receive updated photos of the portrait on a private page on our website so you can see the progress. If you are not happy with the results at any point you may cancel your order but retainers are not refundable.
Final payment is due upon completion. After reviewing the final piece on your personal webpage, final payment must be sent before the portrait is shipped to you.
Rush orders are accepted with a 50% surcharge for delivery in less than three months.
Orders can be paid by credit card through PayPal or by personal check or money order.
I work from photographs you provide. It is preferred that you send a high resolution (300 dpi) digital image approximately 8 x 10 emailed or on a CD for me to work from.
